Architectural Works > Gate Noveau

The Gate Noveau is homage to metalworking of the past most particularly the Art Deco period. The customer had just finished a complete restoration and remodel of this home originally built in 1907 and wished to have a protective barrier that was more inviting than oppressive. Both of us really appreciate the patterns used in Art Deco design and I attempted to make use of repeating line, arc and shape to lighten up what is otherwise a security device. I am particularly fond of the arched door and non-symmetrical top of the gate as well as how lines will break and carry throughout the design.
